Dubai Metro Blue Line: 30 km expansion connects 14 pivotal hubs by 2029
Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority has unveiled the brand-new Blue Line metro—a 30 km expansion featuring 14 stations—slated to begin operations on 9 September 2029, exactly 20 years after the original Metro launch. With a mix of 9 elevated and 5 underground stations, including major interchanges at Centrepoint (Red Line) and Creek (Green Line), the line promises seamless connectivity to vital zones such as Dubai International Airport, Mirdif, Al Warqa, Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Festival City, Ras Al Khor, and International City.
Boosting efficiency, sustainability & property value
Backed by a Dhs20.5 billion contract awarded to the MAPA‑Limak‑CRRC consortium, the Blue Line is engineered with state-of-the-art trains accommodating nearly 1,000 passengers each, running every ~2 minutes to move up to 46,000 riders per hour per direction. Operating at urban speeds of 110 km/h, it aims to reduce road congestion by 20%, support Dubai 2040’s “20‑minute city,” and enhance land and property values near stations by up to 25%
